A supplier of semiconductor products and creator of HDBaseT technology, Valens Semiconductor publicly announced its new product the VS020 chipset. This new chipset will enable long-distance distribution of multimedia content using a single Cat5e/6a LAN cable.

The product will solve the digital connectivity hassles that the CCTV market is experiencing.

The transitioning of the CCTV industry from analog to digital means that equipment producers and installers need to create new ways to meet the demand for high quality video while at the same time lowering installation cost and connectivity.

Valens Semiconductor design expertise coupled with excellent market studies resulted in the creation of this new chipset named VS020. Specifically design for the transition of CCTV from analog to digital.

VS020 is based on the company’s HDBaseT technology which – Valens declared – converges uncompressed HD video, audio, power and control signals through a single, standard 150m Cat5e/6a cable.

VS020 ensures no signal latency

VS020 ensures the shortest response time which means smooth live monitoring and video analytics.

The chipset creates a true single cable option by supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Power over HDBaseT (POH) technologies.

VS020 is comprised of two chipsets – VS020TX and VS020RX. VS020TX acts as transmitter, designed for HD camera equipment while VS020RX acts as receiver, designed for digital video recorders (DVRs), monitors and other display equipments.

Valens also announced that VS020 products use existing LAN infrastructure ensuring simple, cost effective and scalable installation. This new product requires no additional training or field experience needed to install, further addressing the market's cost and complexity challenges.
